Replace Rear Wheel Bearings 99 i30 (maxima)

My mom needs her rear wheel bearings replaced.

I cant find a working read threw. Or the info I need

Do I need just the bearing or the whole assembily that nissan sells.

I have done my SVX a few times and it is just the wheel bearings.

Her husband can do the work, but i need to get them the correct info, and maybe some walk threw info...that woudl be best.

Just some help...please.

Thanks

Just ordered a pair from Dave B today at Southpoint Nissan (Austin, TX)...came out to around $50 something per bearing, $60 something per hub.

You CAN order the bearing by itself...you might as well take it off and check the whole thing before ordering...

for the rear, they no longer sell just the bearings. don't know why, but you'd have to get the whole assembly. Or at least that was what i was told when i had to replace mine. searched and searched and was not able to get just the bearings. Called dave b, and he said the same thing. Needog, did you order the fronts? Cause i was certain that you had to get the whole hub assembly from the back. Its prob one of the simpler jobs as it doesn't need to taken to get pressed cause well, it comes pressed in the hub. All you'll need to do is take off the brakes and rotors, remove the dust cap, take of the bolt (i believe its 30mm if i'm not mistaken). rent a hub puller from autozone and a slide hammer to attach to it.

well, I think you can find the bearings online that are not oem. If that is all that is needed, (I dont care that nissan only sells the whole thing if I dont need it). One of my parents are out of work so the lower the price the better.

Thanks

good luck. tell me if you do. I searched quite a bit and got nowhere. And what does your parents out of work have to do with the info we're telling you? we're not going to tell you info that makes you spend more money, we're simply stating that its not possible to get just the bearings in which was the answer to your question. The bearings come ONLY with the hub. I didn't believe it when i was told the same. went online, nothing, local autoparts store no dice. let us know if you find it cause i'm sure a lot of people would like to know also.

If you don't buy the whole rear hub assembly, you need to have a press to put the new bearings in.

I just went the route and bought an entire new hub. Installation was fairly easy too, only took about an hour to 1.5 IIRC

ok, so you can just order the bearing and have it pressed in...like a normal car.

IIRC, yes, as long as Nissan still sells them that way (as said above, I think that they only sell the actual bearings for the front, and the complete hubs for the back).

Do you have a press though? Otherwise it will probably cost the same, if not more than the hub itself...

i'm sure that nissan does not sell it that way for the back, because dave b would of sold it to me that way. you might be able to find it somewhere online, but imo, the site who has them might be wrong as the usual sites i order from, rockauto.com, autohausaz, and a bunch of others don't have the rears listed. and also, if the sound is pretty bad and if its been going on for a while, just the the hub with the bearing because most likely your hub was worn out also.

I need new hubs as well. I don't know why none of the auto parts stores besides Napa not list the rears?

Also Immasquashu were your hubs welded on or something? I took mine off Saturday just to see if anything was wrong and regreased the spindles while I had them off. I didn't need a puller or a slide hammer. Just a little tug and they came right off.
