warpspeed y-pipe VS cat-back....

wanting to buy either the y pipe or a cat-back from custommaxima.com

the catback is $180 shipped..are these cat backs from custommaxima.com even good??

which would give more power? theyre around tthe same price so im going back and forth on which one to buy. unfortunetly i cannot afford both right now

comments appreciated!!

ypipe gives you more hp. exhaust gains you almost no hp. Intake makes you lose hp unless you get the PR (place racing) where you drill to your fender. And where are you finding it for $180 shipped? it also says center pipe not included in which you need cause you're a 95-96. You will need one made.

95Max,

Read Kevlo911's FAQ page. He got explanations, sound clips, and comparison info on jus about every exhaust setup for the max. I read it yesterday, and its pretty good man.

Y-pipe is ALWAYS the way to go first, if u looking for performance.

y-pipe without a doubt. this is well known.

forget the rest of the exhaust, it's not restrictive until you really start making some power

haha yea ill prob just go with a ypipe...bc honestly i just want my car to be somewhat loud (not farty) so i can just get an aftermarket muffler thats a hell of a lot cheaper than a full cat back...yet still have a little rumble.

Ypipe is the way to go man. That is what I did as well..BTW IMO before you do that, get your bumper repainted.

+1. Dont worry about getting it repainted, its a waste of lots of $$$^100.
I have a fender that has no clearcoat or something, and I look at it everyday and think of it all the time, but hey, I have better things to worry about, IE. $$, upgrades, more upgrades, food, gas, upgrades, and finally school. =)

I'll celebrate when I hit a real milestone in a max. You know a mil. Nothin like a brand new 96 maxima with 0 miles.

Also as everyone else said go get the ws y-pipe. Should be the first performance mod anyone does.

Hah, don't let them get you down about your bumper, I avoid taking pictures at certain angles to hide my car's Defects... Hail Damage, Faded spoiler, rear bumper, the list goes on and on... You have a goal, performance, then get that Y-Pipe!!

But yeah, Y-pipe is deff the best mod for all around power increase. Get a y-pipe and a 00vi and you will c*m in your pants when you floor it.

i have a short ram intake on mine and i seriously felt the power loss over the stock. it does however give it a throaty sound when i stomp the skinny pedal

If only i read this 2 days ago before i ordered my y-pipe i could have saved some money. I still have to order the cat. Is it too late to "get together"?

No, just say you read about it on maxima.org and you want to add to your order. they probably wont take it off the y but maybe off the cat as a combo, but he said we needed around 8-10 to get it so we will see. What's up Cary, NC. Beautiful area, havent been there in two years has apex spread all the way up 54 yet? Lots of developement between cary and apex when I left.

Thats Ok I’ll try them tomorrow. Cary is growing pretty fast man. I just bought a house and moved to Raleigh 2 months ago after 6.5 yrs in Cary b/c houses there are too damn expensive. They relocating all the kids around school due to much increase in population and even having Cary kids going to school in Apex. And Apex is one of the most rapidly growing cities around here too. I think u meant 55; b/c 54 barely goes through apex. But anyway, it must be spreading through 55 pretty fast b/c it seems as though that’s where the state troopers and the sheriffs live…lol....they all over the place on 55. But like you said they are still building things around here. U probably left unfinished US 1 but they finished that a while ago too. Now they are working on I 40; trying to add more lanes which makes morning traffic a PITA.
