Gotta SMOG again, 3rd year in a row!

Dang the state really has it out for me! I just got my registration renewel and i gotta take it to a TEST ONLY smog station for the third consecutive year. This is BS, what the heck is up? In CA your only supposed to do smogs every other year unless your vehicle fits the profile for typically high emitters but man after 2 years at a test only you'd think they'd leave me alone! I pass with flying colors each time, im just mad cuz they don't ask for a smog every year on my 1985 Mustang! Isn't that high profile for gross polutter lol?

How often do you cali boys gotta smog?

Every freaking year. F*&% California's emission standards. If they were so strict about it, they wouldn't let denalis, tahoes and suburbans drive around.

BS if you ask me

hmm, that's why I live in Florida... (no smog, no inspection, just really high registration, and D/L renewals... )

Liberalism is a mental disorder so they do smog all the time. They don't require the 85 because they don't smog vehicles after 25 years old. If it was really about the environment they would smog every vehicle but all you have to do is follow the money.

So went and got my car smogged today. The guy asked me if I had a new engine in it bc the emission levels were so low!

Little did he know I seafoamed it

I'll try and get a pic of the results. Every reading is way below max and even way below average.

(I'm in cali btw)

AFAIK, once you have been sent to a smog test only center, you will always be sent to one(my older max has for the past 5 years). This will be something you will have to put up with, as ****ty as it actually is.

Are they better than these? I dare you to find a vq30de that runs cleaner than mine. Look at the high carbon dioxide and low nox. The Carbon Monoxide and Hydro carbons are lower than 0.00. All this and I barely get 21 mpg. I'm starting to believe that the i30 get worse than the maximas

You guys gotta quit your b*tchin. Where I'm at in PA you have to get your emissions checked every year. It's been that way for as long as I can remember (20+ years).

No, in Cali we just have a emission every other year. The there are regular smog tests and there are "Test Only" smog checks where are more detailed.

I think brake and light inspections are a one time thing for salvage vehicles.

The smog laws here can be BS at times. The fact that an SR20det swapped 240sx with properly working smog components actually puts off LESS smog than what a 240 is allowed to put out.
I had one with a 240 cat and it put out less than the average smog and way lower than the allowed, but it isn't allowed in Cali. That fact alone says that the smog check isn't only for emissions but to make money.

Well imo test only stations are no more thorough than regular test and repair smog stations. Only major difference is the Test Only stations can only do Test Only smogs meaning they can't fix or adjust a thing, just smog and go. If it fails, oh well not their problem. They stamp a fail and send you to a Test And Repair station or any place that does non Test Only repairs. Only difference is stricter rules for Test Only techs but my boy is one and he says he doesn't do anything extra than he used to do before at a test and repair...

There is ways to make engine swaps legal but not imported engines obviously.

The real problem is with bureaucrats not being able to think. If their book/manual/directions say use a bolt made by abc company and you use a bolt made by xyz company, then you have not done the job and things are all messed up in their messed up minds.
