I agree, the ES300 is scary,
Its a 2001 and smooth as butter, but you can't hear any engine even at WOT. And turns are squeemish at the limits. My max smoked it already so I don't worry bout them, but as far as waxin black I would go for some meguiars gold class, nice stuff. All mothers brand products are nice too. The newer turtle waxes seem nice as well. Its basically what you prefer, after you try a few out for yourself.
Meguiars
Mothers
Turtle (don't knock it till ya try it)
\
Any other suggestions?

Yea, i use nothing but mcguires products on my car. There are some other expensive products that you can order online, and im sure you can order elsewhere. As far as products that you can purchase at local auto part stores such as auto zone or o'reiley's i dont use anything but mcguires.

get rid of birdshyt fast!!
Birds loved to **** on the spoiler and trunk of my 3rd gen, and it always left oxidation and permanent stains if it wasn't washed off soon.
I have a black car. I got it, and it seemed pretty clean, now it's a bit messed up after just 4 months or so.

Here are the general guidelines. Don't wash your car for a little while, at least a week or so. When you do wash it, go easy on it. Don't scrub hard, or use dishwashing soap or anything like that. Don't wax your car for the first month, and don't use any chemical detailers, etc on the paint either for that time. After that first month, just treat it like normal. Wash/wax, etc.
With my car, I was told not to wax it for the first 2-3 months because there are 6 coats of paint and 3 coats of clearcoat on there. It takes the paint longer to cure. For the first week after I got my car back, the paint was actually soft. you could push down on it and feel it give because it's so thick.

You can by a clear bra at www.xpel.com , I just installed one on my 2K2 and I will never have to worry about my bumper or hood getting damaged.

Zaino
Ask the body shop that did the work how long to wait - it depends on the paint system they used and how it was applied. Then, use the Zaino products. They are non abrasive, protect very well, and look great.
I have had three black cars and tried a lot of waxes and polishes. Zaino has proven to be the most durable and protective system I have come across. Check out their website for more info:

As for swirl marks, you might get them in the car wash or by using polyester-blend towels. If so, 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover for Dark Cars is excellent. This product also removes stains from bird droppings, etc. Again, I'd check with the body shop before using.

Megiuars, Mothers and 3-M are all good. To get rid of swirl marks you need to use the least abrasive product there is. Even though 3-M compounds are the better ones (avoid the cheap $3.00 brands, it isn't worth the savings) a compound is too abrasive for swirl marks.
Megiuars has Scratch-X which is ok for swirl marks and light scratches. The others probably have something similar.
The Meguiars site www.meguiars.com has an interesting paint prescription plan. You enter some info about yourself (you can use a bogus email address, to avoid spam) including zip code and they give you a prescription based on the color of your car and geo location.
3-M has info also: www.3m.com/US/auto_marine_aero/index.html
hope this helps you.

My favorite wax is Ibiz wax, you can get it at www.ibiz.net or something like that. It's so easy to remove, and it keeps my black max looking nice.
