Found: Potential 95 Project, at least I think so...

A week ago I was leaving a friends house and noticed this Maxima sitting in one of his neighbors yard. It's a 95 SE with the Security & Convenience Pkg. (Alarm, Pwr everything, Bose sound system etc). it needs a little panel realignment but for the most part seems like a good project.

Today I talked to the father of the owner and apparently the owner, his son, wants to get rid of it (i'm thinking so far so good), but now for the catch Dad says the motors going out but for now is still almost drivable, basically I think its worth $600 at least thats what we agreed on...what do you guys think? the original motor only has 151k on it I think it's salvageable if it's still almost running...

Btw, i'll post pics if someone can tell me how to post from my Documents....

I am just finishing up my 95 Max project. I bought mine with a blown head gasket with 158K on the clock. No stereo or speakers, most of the paneling and plastic was apart in the interior, tires were shot along with the rims, 1 minor rust spot over the passenger side wheel well, cracked windshield, rotted out rad support....ok ok it was a mess!! I picked it up for 400 bucks, and I found an engine with 42K out of an Infiniti for 200 bucks.
600 doesnt seem too bad...but of course cheaper is always better. Just check out the usual problem areas. Assess it and see if its worth it!
I know if i had it to do all over again....I would not!
At least not the vehicle Im about to finish! Good Luck!

None of that, just a dieing motor, and a trunk that won't close all the way, and maybe paint but it's not worth rushing into...

You should be able to just post them to an album or something, I know ive tried on here before but was unsuccessful. So I just posted my pics to my album and then copy and pasted the link to the pics on my post. Give that a shot and see if it works.

But its only dirt and grime! Looks pretty good nonetheless, i would definitely say its worth it. Bose system, black interior, paint looks pretty good, give it a shot man! How long has it been sitting for?

^ Wow, think i'm gonna give this one a shot, the trannys supposed to be good so hey...

I'm thinking when i buy it change the plugs, fuel filter, ebay KS, Power wash the motor, and clean the TB and MAF just to see if it's really dieing or just needs some TLC but seeing the coolant on the front seat makes me think something is cracked...

No clue, I've seen it sitting since like Sept. but who knows how long before then. It does have 2010 tags so I guess not too long.

Before you bite the bullet on the car, you might want to check out its history report...just to be safe. It may be lighting, it may just be sunfading but the rear looks like a different color than both rear doors in those pics...like the rear was repaired or the doors were from another car or something. Again, might just be the lighting but you never know. And it looks dirty as F%^& so I would fine tooth comb it for hidden rust.

If all checks out...congrats on the good deal

Yeah, Alabama is notorious for Salvaged used vehicles so it wouldn't surprise me if it was,and the driver and passenger door are slightly lighter than the rest of the car so I would say probably T-Boned if anything; but I checked for rust and didn't see any, today i'll try and crank it...Thanks

look under the rear seat and trunk floor mat for mud and/or dirt. it looks like a flooded vehicle to me.

I must agree also. The condition of this car is pathetic. Clearly this person doesn't know how to care a car even if they didn't like it. But one thing I know for sure is the lower radiator support is rusted out. That engine is leaning.. Also, I would like to know the color of those fluids especially the tranny.

Everything about the engine and cooling system was just ugh...Engine did need to be replaced along with radiator and too much other stuff too get into, i'm not gonna buy it. Apparently he has a cousin who found a DE-K with a Turbo for 250(needs Timing Chain, pulleys, plugs, and coils and some other Chain related items ) it's his now, he's a shade tree mechanic, gonna rebuild it and drop it in:
