yeah, dont waste money with the timing chain. However, its a 96 so it might not be the chain rather its the tensioner. If its a project car, i wd try replacin the tensioner myself.
HOw many miles on her?
700 not bad. But to get her clean, u gonna spend some cash if u cant do most of the work urself

What kinda rims are on it ? Are those the 16 inchers all around ? if so you have a good start.
Im so glad you took that car away from those ricers boys in time to save it from humiliation looks like they already destroyed it a fair bit though.
One 96 headlight - One 97+ style headlight.
97+ style cracked and dented bumper.
No center console.
Missing emblems and seals on the sunroof.
Carpet looks like a horny chiwawa dog got to it.
Looks like someone took a chainsaw to the
rear bumper to install the aftermarket muffler.
Hood scoops, air vents/damns/stickers whatever the hell
you want to call it should be thrown away asap. :]
Thats mostly just aesthetics...
If you can save this car we will love you forever

Well if the OP can do the work himself then its not too bad.
If he cant do the work himself and has to pay for labor..... Ima go out on a limb here and jus judgein from what i see and what the OP has listed in the thread as malfunctioning.....
i say 3000 bucks for a mechanic to make the maxi clean. That includes: struts/springs, worn suspension joints / bushings, brakes, replacement engine, and interior. 1200 to do himself. That EXCLUDES the body work, any malfunctioning sensors, steering, AND sound system.
I might have to agree with MAXRIDE on this one. OP could potentially be spending quite a bit of money....

That car has definitely seen better days. It makes my GXE project look cheap and easy by comparison. If you have the time and money to invest in it I wish you the best of luck.
The next time you see the previous owner, slap them.

I've had a true dual on the L28e (79 280ZX 2+2) - was done at a local shop here - including the headers. I'll check to see if they are still around, as that was 15+ years ago.
