High mileage

The headlight for my '95 Maxima sucks. The only true solution will be to retrofit a projector headlight with an aftermarket HID kit. I'm really tempted to do it but my Maxima is closing in on 300,000 miles. The car runs perfectly fine but I just can't the headlights even with the plug n play HID kit. Should I do it? or its not worth it at all?

Feedbacks from Maxima lovers are appreciated.

Its all about how much you love your max...I have a 96 with 343k and Its still running strong...I'm still upgrading and alot of ppl tell me how good my car looks and how good it rides even with the mileage...ur max will be good to you as long as you take good care of it...in short don't give it up. its the greatest car ever.

Did you do anything to your headlight?

Do the 9004 to 9007 bulb/harness conversion. Cheap and efficient.

I have a 1996 Maxima with about 135k-150k miles on it.

About 8 months ago I noticed my left fog light was out. I knocked on it, and it came back on.
I have had to knock on it more and more often to get it to stay on.

About 2 months ago, the low bean stopped working on one of my headlights. I cannot remember which one it was.
I changed out both bulbs with some 'blue tint' bulbs that I got on Ebay.
The new bulbs seemed to work fine.

About a week ago, the low beam went out again on one of the headlights.

In the last few days the fog lights seemed to not be working at all.

Today;

1. The other low beam went out, so now I have no low-beams.

2. When the high beams are on, the fog lights do not work at all.

3. When the light switch is in the 'low beam' position, the fog lights seem to work fine, although the low beams are dead and I get zero light from the headlights.

If anyone knows any common causes for this in general, or specifically for this type of vehicle, please let me know.

If anyone can recommend a procedure to diagnose this problem, I would appreciate it.

Ok:
1. The low beam went out on both sides:
Have you tried new bulbs? Doesn't hurt if you have a friend that also uses 9004 bulbs.
How about a continuity test? Make sure that there are no breaks in the wire. If you have to knock on it to make it work, it may just be a bad connection or a broken wire somewhere.
What wattage are the bulbs from ebay? Our headlight harnesses have small wire gauges. If you overload them, they may melt and break. *Small wire gauges meaning higher number, thinner wire.

2. When the high beams are on, the fogs do not work at all.
This is a "feature" of the car.

3. See number two about the fogs, and number one about figuring out what the problem is with the headlights.

Let us know how it goes.
