I ordered a 5 gen clutch kit for my 4 gen from daveb, i also ordered amsoil, what else will i need before starting to change my clutch ? My friend is doing all the work i just want to get all the parts for him . any help would be appreciate it, Im looking to get everything so i wont be stuck on the weekend with the car not drivable, do i need any seals or anything like that ?

Clutch kit (disk and pressure plate), alignment tool, gear oil, throwout bearing, axle seals (optional, but recommended). All that and you should be good.

I just received a fifth gen clutch (pp, disc and bearing) from Dave Burnette and did not receive an alignment tool to my dismay. It obviously has to match up with the splines in the disc so is this a Nissan specific part, or can it be had from any average autoparts store?

You can get it anywhere. It didnt come with the 5th gen kit I ordered too. You can borrow one from a friend (like I did) or do it the cheap way and use a broom handle.

get yourself some sandpaper so that u can scuff up the flywheel a little

+1 I forgot about that step...also sand down the contact points around the entire edge of the bellhousing.

As others said, you can get an alignment tool from any auto parts store for relatively cheap. IIRC, my 5th gen clutch kit didn't come with one either.

just use a 14mm deep socket with some tape around it...lol

In that case, just make sure its degreased and you are good to go.

any parts store, as someone already stated...

or you can just use a socket with tape on it and your eye if you're good at aligning things by sight. i've never used an alignment tool personally. always eyeballed it.

thx a lot , for the help. Im starting this afternoon and since its weekend time im trying to get everything i might need so i can finish tomorrow . Still need to find a place that can resurface my flywheel

You should first find a place to resurface it before you start unbolting things.

check it yourself before spending to resurface. If its doesnt have gouges and dents n stuff, just rub it down with some sand paper and you should be good.
