Well, having been a member for the past 5 years here, I've seen far too many people post their 'goodbye' threads when they sell or total their Maxima's but I always see them come back no matter what. What about you?

im back after a few years, the org. max got totaled, then got an 01 I30, traded that in for a 04 GTO, which i added Heads, cam, stall, long tube headers, ported TB, full exhaust, custom intake, blah blah blah. Due to GM's wonderful design the car actually caught on fire

so decided to get some bills paid down, so i got me a 96 civic hatchback and put a turbo on it. It was actually faster then the GTO lol and got 40 MGP lol.

Needed a daily so i traded that car for another civic, it was hell driving that thing around in the MS heat, which hasn't even started yet lol.

I started looking for a Max after i sold the civic and found one a week later, i specifically looked for a 97-99 GLE or SE and i found mine! As soon as i sat down in it, it reminded me of my original maxima, even the smell of the leather lol

im a happy camper and so is my wife(we ride together to work) lol

Thats one loyal maxi owner lol. Feel bad for the guy too. Surprised they were able to steal the car. My 1993 had steering wheel lock. He must have had base model.

Oh, and they always come back to maxi...always

Traded my 97 in for the Altima and regretted it before even leaving the lot. Love the Altima but should had kept the original Max as a project. Just shy of two years is all it took before getting another Max.

Bought my 95 GXE for $500 with a bad water pump. Fixed and repainted whole car. Got totaled twice within 6 months by kunts who don't know how to stop at signs and lights. Fixed it back twice and still going...going to be very hard for me to part from that car.

Actually, even the base model 3rd gen has steering wheel lock. Base model 3rd gen were far better equipped than the base model 4th gens and thats a fact son. (Notice I didn't say "Boy" )

See this thread has proved a point. Maxima owners ALWAYS come back

Yea they do, I'm only saying that because I'm assuming that cashoit figured 3rd gen base models were complete strippies with crank windows and door locks

I bought a 1996 GS300 then dropped an Aritso 2jzgte in it. After fixing it up(converting to single, torque converter,HKS f-con, etc... dynoed 587whp)I pulled the 3.5 out of my old 97 max and sold it to my son so I left the org for a while.I still got to see the max all the time but my boy is not very mechanically inclined so it seemed that I was always working on it for him. Then last week he broke the transmission in it so I got it back from him Thursday. Bought 95stillenmax's built vsld tranny,d1max2nv's V1 superchager, and going to have the car repainted.I'm happeir than a pig in s***.I will be selling the Lexus now that I have my max back! I can't explain it but it's like cleaning out your closet and finding that old favorite shirt you used to love to wear, it just feels good to be back in the max!

Had a 1995 Maxima SE, black, gorgeous car. Sold it for way too little, got a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe V6, was not very impressed. Recently got a 1999 Maxima GLE for a steal. Very happy. Would prefer the old 1995 SE back... prefer the color, leather seats, but I still love the GLE.

in 98 i got rid of my 92 SE 5spd (worst mistake ever) , and went to the V8 world (lt1,then ls1), then got into luxury cars and then just a few years ago, i found myself needing a dependable car that was quick, had four doors and was good on gas

first thought that came to mind was the maxima. i couldnt find any 3rd/4th gens in any "good" condition ....so i bumped up to a 5th gen and been with her (and plan to keep her) for as long as i possibly can.

I bought a 1987 maxima gxe back in 2000, It was fully equipped! I fell in love with it and thought it was pretty quick to be an old car, it even talked to you lol. I paid $500 for it and kept it for a few years before wrecking it in a front end collision, and it was still running. Next I bought a 1990 chevy baretta 5-speed GT. It was fun to drive, but did not compare to the maxima in quality and reliability, oil pump died at 225K miles, and I bought the car at 222K miles, didnt get to enjoy it. Motor locked up and left me stranded, then someone stole it. I said I was going bak to a maxima and found a 3rd gen in good condition. A blue gxe auto and fell in love with it, kept it for about 5 years then it got totaled and i was still driving it until the timing belt popped at 280K miles. I then Bought a 99 toyota camry for 650 and sold it after 4 weeks of putting money into it, had a blown head gasket. Sold that and bought the 95 maxima I currently own now. I just cant stay away from the maxima. alot of people say that all I drive are maximas, and they are right!

Lets see....

blew up my 97 3.5 swap...

bought a 1986 AE86 w/ sr20det swap.... sold

bought a 1991 Nissan 240sx w/ sr20det swap... sold

bought a 1989 Mustang Gt w/ carb and supercharger... sold

bought a 1970 Ford LTD w/ 351 windsor... sold

... now toy car is 1996 Nissan Maxima 5spd vq30de Turbo... Never getting rid of it. Love it to pieces.

I was discussing this with MRGONZ yesterday... there is something about a Maxima... it scampers... it has personality... And with surratt doing 09 swaps there is really no reason to get rid of it. Even if I blow the engine, for 7 grand I can drop an 09 and a 6spd into it and still go right on...

She will live forever.

My 97 se is my first Maxima and I'm sold. I really think this thread should be a sticky for some reason. My Maxima and the org. go hand in hand.
