Automatic Transmission Mount

Hi Gang,

I've searched around a bit to see if there were any "pointers" out there for changing the auto tranny mount. I poked at my Haynes, and it only mentions it during the drop instructions of the transmission. It refers to the mount I want to change as the left transaxle mount. Is there another I should be changing as well? They are $53 shipped on Amazon.

I get some definitive clunks when the tranny shifts depending on when I let off the pedal as it relates to different accelerations in different gears. Figured it was worth changing.

There weren't too many steps before just taking it out of the car (remove wiring, get some space, etc)

Does anyone have any newbie pointers?

if you have air tools, they will be your best friend.

usually if the side mounts are bad the front and rear mounts are bad or on their way out as well.

there are 4 bolts hold the tranny mount in on the tranny and one bolt going through the mount connecting it to the frame of the car. undo those 4 jack up the transmission a little and install the new one...should be a 30 min job at most

If those are the new design tranny mount, you will need to change your bolts. They have shortened along with some spacers which you should get at the dealer. Be warned, those bolts are pricey if you don't know someone there.

It's simple. Make room (remove battery, etc), use a jack under the trans to take the load off of the mount, break loose the four bolts, take middle bolt out, R&R. Done.

Shameless advertising: I've got one for sale. It has 90k miles on it and it's in perfect condition. $35 shipped neg.
