How bad were your numbers? I know that mine was at like 400 for the hydro carbons, which is off the chart, the max is 130.
The shop I took it to was interested in seeing what the problem was since the numbers were ridiculous, and he hooked it up to a computer and was performing the diag test, and it was showing that my upstream 02 sensor was not functioning properly.
And of course he performed this test after I had already replaced the exhaust from the cat back!
Good luck.

There are some products out there that will clean your system out, I also through in a can of Cat a clean.
I also know that CRC makes a product called Guaranteed to pass emissions.
Now, Im not a real firm believer in "liquid fix it" but i did see a decrease in emissions on the computer read out after it was poured into the tank!

My state dose not put the sniffer in the tail pipe and I to have a 00VI with egr delete I have no problems here in IL . It sounds like your state uses a sniffer the easiest way to pass is to put the stock UIM back on for the test and switch back when done it's just an idea.. good luck!

it has nothing to do with his state on the sniffer... hes got a 95... its pre obdII, so he has to run a dyno if its an emissions test... and yes i know its not that it doesnt necessarily have obdII but that it predates the standard of the test...

as for the egr... it would be wise to reinstall, then maybe run a couple cleaners through it. if its performing optimally you should cut those numbers down alot... and retest... and dont just dump those cleaners in the tank and call it good. your supposed to run through that tank on most of them... or at least on the ones i used in the past...

Get your EGR working...I could not pass etest without it. I could pass NOx if I dumped a alot of fuel but then I had everything else skyrocket out of limits. I did pass idle test yay lol. You could try if you have a meth kit (spraying just a little bit of water) and have it activate, say at 2000 RPM or w/e the car does its run at. Herd it would help with NOx.

But your best bet is it get the EGR back in there. It introduces exhaust back into the intake and lowers your temps/NOx. A cat can only do so much...

SO i have the egr guide tube in.. i have had it in, I just dont know that its working. I took off the manifold and the egr guide tube looks clean. like nothing passes through it into the manifold. Why would that be?

Have you checked the EGR solenoid? I took mines completely apart just to make sure that it worked. It worked so I just ran a wire hanger down the tube. It's been good ever since.

yeah the green solenoid works, but the egr valve is not letting air flow thru. also my egr temp sensor is not registering what it is suppose to. it is way low. All hoses are routed correctly. I cant figure out how to make it work.

When I had a 93 Ford probe v6 I deleted the egr system altogether. Still passed the dyno/sniffer emission test.

Drive the car at high speed for at least an hour prior to testing. The cat works great because the hotter it gets the better it is at reducing emissions. I also suggest that you make sure other emission systems are in order such as o2 sensors etc.

Man he will never pass Emissions without the EGR. Running lean his N0x will fly through the roof! Without an EGR your best A/F would be 14.2. As it running slightly richer then stock but the extra gas will lower your N0x's and still have the Hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide within spec.

You could move to MA. 95's are now exempt there from emissions testing.
