I agree..Ive been looking at 4th gens and I just dont like the back end either. I think it looks good with certain aftermarket tails but in general, it could have been better. I lean more towards liking the same year i30s..much nicer back end and I like the front end too but other than cosmetics, theyre very similar cars.

To me the spoiler is all the difference. I wouldnt let mine out of the house without it any more than I would let my wife out of the house without her panties...oh wait, bad example, I do that all the time..

Put the spoiler back on it```

I don't care for the rounded back end of these A32s either. Another thing I hate is the price of each gasket, $22, where the spoiler mounts onto the trunk.

I got an OEM painted spoiler for $110 shipped on ebay, then got it installed with custom gaskets for only $75. ☻

I like my rear end thank you very much. Your problem is not having a spoiler.

I love the 4th gen rear ..only if it has 50/50 tail lights, shaved and droped I think it looks awsome...I think the wingless look onlty looks good if the car is dropped....just my opinion

Both rear ends look great with the right set up:
'95-'96: David L's, Nissan emblem removed, spoiler necessary.
'97-'99: Red/Cleara, fully debadged, spoiler or no spoiler is fine.

I love my rear end! 97, Red/Clears, Spoiler, and Nissan emblem removed. I'd go for a full debadge if I were shaving the keyhole as well. I think it looks funky with just the keyhole there.

i agree with some of you, the spoiler makes the car. without it the car looks like one of those old ugly altimas, just bigger lol. all my friends say since the spoiler fell off it looks like their grandparents car, just with an awesome engine

and the spoiler fell off while i was at my house in the mountains driving down the dirt road it just fell off, never bothered to fix it or replace it, money goes elsewhere

I love the rear end of these cars.. debadged, DTM mod, my 3 inch pacesetter tip and 8inch tires with a drop made walking up from behind a sexual experience.
i miss it.

Could not agree more! If the elephant man was a car, it would be the 5th gen maxima.

The spoiler puts the "sport" in sports sedan. Otherwise it just looks like a boring sedan.

Similarly, I think the G35 and 350Z look wrong without some kind of spoiler.

A little different but not old man looking

I have a 97 and i kinda have to somewhat agree with you, but i wouldnt say it looks like an old man car. The front is just too sexy for that! Mine never had a spoiler, but i have been thinking a lot about it. I know EVERYONE has their own preferences when it comes to how a car looks. If not, why in the world would any one drive a PT Crusier! Anyway... i have never really been into the stock spoilers on the gen 4's, but i have seen a couple with a mitsu galant spoiler that i've really been interested in! I will have to see how much it is all together to get it on there. Does anyone know?

ya not old man looking, like old woman looking lol

and the 5th gens without spoiler look a lot better then 4th gen without spoiler, but my opinion. the tail lights look so much better on 5th gen. but the 4th gen with a spoiler looks better then 5th gen with one

but im not talking about looking at it from behind, im saying looking at it from the side or angled veiw, looks horrible lol
and just a side note, G37 is the coolest car i ever drove

I don't mind my spoilerless look. Personally I think its easier to clean and has somewhat of a sleeker look without it. Don't get me wrong, if I found a BM1 trunklid and spoiler in mint condition at the JY I'd get it

I like the 4th gen rear - it's one of the few designs that looks good withstanding time. The new designs are ... blahh - nasty.... Not a fan of the circular tail lights either.
