I've changed everything:
both O2 sensors,
knock sensor,
fuel filter,
spark plugs,
also installed a K&N filter in stock housing,
no errors in the system,
the tires are pumped with nitrogen.

What else to check?
May the clogged cat to make such a huge consumption?

u reset ECU??

im seeing 27-28 hwy/19-20 city.

I replaced the CAT a few years ago with a magnaflow High Flow Unit so it should be fine

FYI I have read that the oil from some of those performance intake filters (like K&N) can cause your MAF to have false readings . . . don’t know if it’s true or not but there is a lot of Lexus people who swear by this

UPDATE: still getting 22+ MPG and not CEL yet since Rear O2 Replacement and MAF Cleaning

Hi! Yes the ECU is resetted and it has the 55 code (no errors).
Both O2 sensors and knock sensor changed after I bought the car.

Hi! I want to replace my stock CAT also, because it's probably the only thing where I wasn't doing anything.

About the K&N filters oil... I don't think it's true. I had a cone K&N filter on my previous car and it didn't make any problems, I think it even gave bigger MPG. (but I'll probably will switch back to stock filter, because it's quite dusty here and the car is not for racing, but for daily driving)

22 MPG is REALLY nice. I basically started having the issue with MPG after I've decided to clean my cilinders and used a special fluid for it, which was connecting to the vacuum of the manifold(might be it made the CAT dirty).

What does that have to do with fuel consumption? Not trying to sound like a ****, I'm seriously curious, since I have the same problem.

Seized Caliper = Brakes engaged/stuck
Brakes engaged = Slow wheel forcing you to use more gas

Hmm....well my rear left caliper doesn't work at all, that doesn't mean it's seized does it?

That would explain my 16 MPG though...

when I come from the business trip I will check my calipers, but they were revisioned not so long ago. The consumption is quite big and I am tired fighting with it...

i had a 5 speed, and it used to get 22mpg if im lucky.
with my auto maxima, i used to get 18, and that was regular driving thru city and highway, i think 18 is ok.

(note, 18 was without a/c. so ur good)

Found a problem with the car over the weekend.

I noticed when I park on a decline with a full tank that I was leaking gasoline to the ground. As it turns out the plastic top of the gas tank (where the fuel level instrument hangs from) was cracked and leaking. A replacement form the local junk yard fixed the leak and stopped the bogging problem. However I have got the 0706 CEL twice since then, wired huhn?

during the summer i was getting 22-23 mpg mostly city and using the a/c about 75% of the time. Tire pressures were 36 34. Running Gulf 93 octane. I was highly impressed because I struggled to get 20 in my 00 max.

My wifes 97 has 206,xxx on the clock and her milage has been getting worse as of late. A while back our BG rep at my shop sold us on some new equipment for PM service that cleans the TB/manifold/valves/pistons/cylinder walls/and HO2S. The other piece does fuel system cleaning for the rail and injectors. You also throw a can of 44k in the tank.

I am not big on gimmicks and only sell the service because my boss tells me too. Until now. I ran all three parts of the process the same day and went from 18 mpg mixed to 25 mpg mixed and beating on it.

I also tore the thing apart for "the oil leak" and got to see just how good this product is and holy ish it works well. I would just change the oil after just in case. Also I havent seen any ruined cats yet but it doesnt mean it cant happen. Mine is reading just fine and a backpressure test confirms it's okay. Good luck and sorry for the commercial but I am really happy about this.
My wife thinks PM service is a joke even though it keeps food in her belly so this is a little jab back at her.

He is doing the manifold service here but he is also doing it wrong and as you can see he is spilling the product in the engine compartment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2yNvI2h6Vo
