ANOTHER MAXIMA BITES THE DUST (UPDATE ON REBUILT)

So today is a SAD day people, My MAX has BITE THE DUST. IDK if my insurance is going to attempt to fix it (which I hope), but just from my own assessment of the car I can tell that it is DONE for it.
And I had planned to take the car to the shop tomorrow to get my A/C check out and fix the oil leaks, but clearly that is not going to happen now.

DA STORY:

Driving to work like any other day, but today for some strange reason I decide to take the back road like my friend always does. Don't know what made me chose to go this way today but I did, plus it was raining like crazy. So I'm driving and this car in front of my just stops and I hit the brakes and got it immediately locked up on me and before I could think to grab the handbrake it was too late.

After the whole wreck happens I go the person in the car in front of me and they're are alright and their car has a couple paint chips on it but they were alright. And I'm asking this dude why did he just stop like that for no reason and then he tells why. Apparently their was a car trying to back out of a driveway and the person driving couldn't see so they decide have someone stop and go into the middle of the road to try and stop traffic. When he saw that, he stopped immediately and we clearly see the result of that.

Funny thing though, my air bags deployed and car got smashed but nothing happened to anyone, I'm alright the other person and their car is alright just Maxi got banged up. There was no fluid or oil leak so who knows the insurance might just fix it and Maxi might back up and running.

We shall see. Fingers crossed and I pray.

well hold on

if its done for buy it back from the insurance company.

Its the best of all worlds. order the hood lights and fenders , maybe a radiator. probably need a new alignment, check the motor mounts.

Youre gold dude. youll come out wayyyy ahead. theyll rock you with a 4k offer, buy the car for 500$.

wtf fix that noodlebrain!

theres a 96 same color right here in the junkyard in humboldt you could take the hood from lol. it wont take long to find one, order one from the junkyard pay full price its gonna be 160$ to get a gold hood to ya.

not hard to find parts for maximas in junkyards AT ALL

I didn't have full coverage insurance on the Max so they are not going to give me crap.

hey sorry about your car...don't be disappointed tho...there's still hope

if da insurance company says its fixable then definitely get it fixed and it'll come out lookin betta than ever...just make sure you pick the bodyshop/mechanic yourself to get it fixed...preferably someone that you know...i did dat when ma i30 got in an accident back in 2008..[it wasn't a major one tho] but my mechanic was able to get me some money out of it ;] ...helped me pay da deductible n use da rest for mechanical repairs that were there prior to the accident..

n if not then you could try doing what stamar said...good luck

they should... my dad's 98 camry w/out full coverage had an accident last year when a drunk driver came flying when he had a red light and hit it... everything was covered and we were able to make some money off of that one too lol ...
it could be different in your case cuz in mine it was 100% the drunk driver's fault..wat insurance do you have anyway? am with nationwide

ok, Let me get this right - you were behind a car that stopped, you hit them, and you insurance says YOUR car isn't covered?

Seriously - get some new insurance.

That's not too bad, you may check craigslist for part car and if you have no leaks, then you just need a hood, grill and bumper and lights. If you want your insurance to cover the damage, you may end up with higher premium since you hit the other car from behind, it almost certain that they will say it is you at fault.

I actually almost rear ended someone yesterday as well. I also to decided to take back road yesterday after work because radio reported there was a accident on the high way. What happened was I was at a intersection that has two right turn lanes turns 45 degree, I was on the rightmost land and when the green light started, I started moving and turning right, there was a van on the left lane just about half car space ahead me suddenly cut into my lane (without even bother to signal me) because a car ahead him stopped to turn left to a pharmacy, I slammed on break and barely missed that van by few inches, I gave him a big honk and passed him and gave the idiot a nasty look. Man, someone just doesn't look when driving.

If you're liability only, it has to be demonstrable that it was the other guy's fault. And if you rear-end someone for whatever reason, the blame will almost always fall on you. Yes, they will say, the other car stopped in the middle of the road, but you should have been far enough back and paying enough attention to have stopped in time. There is definitely an element of truth to this, but it's usually used to justify bullsh!t situations where neither ins company will pay.

OK

so then look at it this way. someone just gave you a wrecked maxima. All you need to do is buy a new hood, some headlights and? wow way cheap couple hundred bucks and you have yourself a nice maxima.

How on earth could a small front end collison be the end of a car like that?

If u crushed the frame and you no longer had the motor mounted the right way i could understand

take closer pictures and the maxima orgers will tell you all the parts necessary. I dont believer theres anything that cant be done with one ratchet a set of metric sockets and a phillips head screwdriver.

At least give it to someone and dont junk it. thats crazy.

I'd guess a body shop estimate would come in at $5k plus the airbags, which are rather pricey.

My max was wrecked like that back in 01 and it got fixed. Hood wasn't that bad though but they replaced it. Don't know what they will do with the value of our cars at this point but I hope everything comes out well. Looks like mostly cosmetic damage like mine was other than my busted coolant overflow bottle. My radiator wasn't damaged.

Holy smokes! Your car looks almost exactly like my dad's did when i rear ended another car.

The reason why there was little damage on their car and lots on your car was because yours "dove" under theirs.

Long story short - when I banged up my dad's car it cost the shop 3k to fix. Mind you, this was an insurance covered shop so they charge along the lines of ~$90/hr and like $200 for a single headlight.

When I banged up my van (similar story, but insert a fire hydrant on the other end) i bought a parts van, paid my dad's friend who restores cars $600 and he did all the work.

So, if you get your hands on a parts car same color, you are golden! Just get someone to straighten out the frame, it shouldn't have dimonded because it was a straight on hit. Other then that ditto on what most people above said as far as parts needed.

That's about right. Airbags are the expensive things. For the money to repair it, you could probably get a similar car.

Yea the insurance isn't going to do ish. The other person isn't even calling in a claim with my insurance provider which is I'm not even going to call them. My dad has a friend that fixes up cars like that and he said he would fix me up for free just need to get the parts and my dad is going to do. They just have to come get my car from Tallahassee and take it back home to Orlando smh.

cool.
I dont see any permanent damage to your car.

it looks like you missed both fenders.

Now you have to see whether you need a new radiator and fans, new ac condensor or not.

I dont know how much its gonna cost in parts however.

WAY LESS than finding a new maxima on the used market.

you might have to shell out a lot to get a hood in the right color though.

Same crash happened to me. I ordered a new hood, bumper, and fixed the radiator mount support. Insurence company said to do a total loss. I said forget it.

380 for a core support is ridiculous, go to google shopping and you can find all of the parts you need for very cheap.

If he doesnt have full coverage than why would his company pay for it? If the accident was deemed the other guys fault then their insurance should pay.

you can get one headlight grill bumper all that ****. I could just be a free service between you and the yard let them ship it to you.

I think I'm going to take you up on your offer but I'm not back in Orlando yet. When I get there probably Monday I will let you know.

Thanks everyone for the advice, hopefully I can be up and running again by the middle of July.

ummm......well if you say you didn't have full coverage....then I assume you probably just had liability.....which then means that YOUR insurance company will cover any damage (up to an extent I am sure) that you may cause to another car or property or GOD FORBID person in an accident deemed YOUR fault......judging from what you had told us.....it seems that you rearended the other car....this is an automatic fault on your behalf....if he would of been in reverse and stomped the gas pedal flying into you and f'n up your front....and you luckily had an honest person or a witness....then that is the only way that outcome would NOT be your fault....nevertheless....the end result is that YOUR insurance will fix THE OTHER guys car...and as for you ....well you are up shiznits creek without a paddle.....and you know how that will turn out....

Sorry that had to happen though regardless...good luck!

OK, please show me an OEM radiator support. NOT the lower support but the whole thing for less than $380... I can also get one from Certifit.com for around $45 but will only last 90 days so there's no point

Terrible that happened, you always have to leave a good amount of distance from the car ahead of you ESPECIALLY in the rain. You rear ended him so its your fault by law. Like other's have said the car seems fixable... do it!

I would just fix myself. It doesnt look like your engine took any significant damage so thats a plus. Just replace the front end. Just dont junk it. You wont get crap for it and you will just regret it later.

Well I went on courtesy Nissan and found the whole thing for 350! Ha! . If we are talking oem then yes youre correct its up there. Most people can get by with the 150-200 range. I bought a no name brand for 175 and its been on there for 2 years with no troubs. Either way you're correct sir

If the OP only has liability then no, his insurance isnt goin to pay a dime since HE rear-ended someone. Sucks

Since airbags deployed, insurance wd deem the car a total loss.

Does the engine even start up anymore? If not, then junk it. Hell, jus resetting the airbags gonna cost some big coin.
