Heated Mirrors? Are they or not?
Heated Mirrors? Are they or not?
What's up, I was driving yesterday morning and noticed that from the center of my mirror a square shape formed, and then grew until the whole side mirror ws defrosted. I was just wondering if maybe I had heated side mirrors. I have a 98 Maxima SE leather and a whole bunch of other goodies. Thanks

retrofitting heated mirrors
Buying the heated mirrors is expensive, as Nissan wants $180 each for them.
What you can do inexpensively is buy the glass part only. It's only $35 or so from Nissan (maybe even cheaper from a wreck) and install it into the mirror housing and then tap the power supply for the rear defroster.
Apparently it's not the most straight-forward thing in the world to disassemble the mirror casing.
I haven't really looked into it yet, but please post back if you find anything out.
For other elements of the cold-weather (now known as Meridian?) package, the low wiper fluid part has been covered before on this board. It's a $10 part and punching a hole in your reservoir.
Heated seats is a problem. You either have to swap seats or find the heated inserts, undo your seat covers and install them and re-cover them. Either an expensive or time-consuming option.

damn that sucks!
I recently noticed how they would come in handy. Since it got cold lately... I didn't think this car had heated mirrors...
My 93 SE had heated mirrors and a seperate switch just for the mirrors... damn minima!
