Rust repair on lower rear quater panel...

Hi everyone,
I was under my 96 Maxima (spent it's entire life in NJ) yesterday, and I noticed that the area directl;y to the right of the muffler is rotted. I guess you would call that area the inside or backside of the lower rear quarter panel is rotted out. This I assume is the area that you would see if you were to look inside the trunk, and look down and to the right. I can put my hand into the area and be inside the trunk. Does Nissan sell a replacement panel for this area? Or is it better to have random metal welded into that area? I need to have the radiator core support replaced, so this would be a good time to have this done as well. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Zack

yeah for the quarter panel the only option would be to cut out the rust and weld some new metal in there...if you get an estimate for that let me know..i'm goin through the same ****..rust really sucks.

I also have this same problem on my max as well and was looking for the part and I think this is it in the link

Can someone verify if it is the right part...

I certainly hope you're wrong Colombian but at least it's not on the painted side of the fender.
I don't claim to be some kinda autobody wiz but I cut/grind all rusted metal first and then used Extend to stabilize the perimeter before I glassed it.

Well I was looking at the pictures on the link above, and I am not sure if the rear floor is the rotted part in question? Below is another link and I am wondering if the part is the backside of the rear fender?

I would say from your link the part "might" be # 7451M ? But does that part weld to the back of the rear fender?

And in the link that I posted, it looks like it could be part # 78110 ? I wish there was a way to see the back of the panel? I hope it is the part that you mentioned, because that piece is under a $100 bucks!

Yeah the ones I am referring to are part #'s 74514M and 74514N. Also I do not see any bolts in this location so I think it has to be welded.

So do you think that is the part that is rotted on our cars? Or is it the actual fender?

I am not sure but I am for certain its not the actual fender. That part has a drain hose that runs on it. The fender does not have such part.

I could ask my local dealer if they would order the part for me to check it out?

That would help us out considerably....especially if it is the right part and it is not difficult to replace.
