Trans Codes

I believe my 99 GLE transmission is acting up is there anyway we can retrieve codes like the CEL method. Or do they throw codes? I'm a noob here so be nice

Symptom is in the morning she runs great other than a hard shift but after she warm or been running all day the trans start to knock or like something loose. Idk how to explain this but it's not normal. it happens around 3 in 4 and when i hit it hard. normal cruising it not as notice but hard driving it's like something going to snap.

more details, please. describe the "knocking" or take a video i think you'll need a special scanner to scan for the trans codes.

I did see that somewhere about the o/d light giving your trans codes but i've been looking for days now and can't find it anywhere. As for the knocking sound it's like when I take off at normal from the red light or stop sign I have not problems unless I hit it and at 3 gear then it this thumping sound... even if i'm in traffic and I want to pass someone it a thump when she down shifts and when she goes in the next gear. Like something is really loose.

P.s I just found how to get the codes... thanks for the FSM you sent me... I told them you guys rock hard.

I did the manual trans code by the O/D indicator and had no codes come up... But I still have not found what that knocking or thumping sound is coming from. Starting from the light or stop sign she takes off normal but when she shift from third to fourth it's a thumping or knocking sound like something is bumping against something and even when it down shift to a lower gear when hitting the throttle it bumps again and bumps again when hitting the next gear. In other word this is happening around 3rd and 4th gear. I posted another thread concerning a support bearing on the right axle support bracket. could this have something to do with this issue also..... here a link http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ng-change.html
