Air temp. Sensor Questions

Hey guys, i have a question about the Air Temp. Sensor located right after the air filter. Is it possible to delete the sensor? Reason i ask is my brother threw it out... i took it out while i was doing my custom air intake and now i cant find it and im due for emissions. of course now my CEL is on. Is there anyway to bypass that or make the car think that its plugged in? Buying a new sensor is about $150 at autozone and i dont have the money to spend at this time. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i would check the average resistance the sensor is supposed to produce then just plug in a resistor into where the temp sensor is supposed to go

or buy a use one

Yeah that part is $52 from courtesyparts and that's OEM. Not sure if you looked up the right thing at AZ.

Just throwing in a resistor might make the car run lean or rich (I always mix the two up). I wouldn't suggest going that route.

Either get a new one from RockAuto or a used one from a junkyard.
