IACV Ticks and low idle, video included

I have a 1998 max, 140k miles and lately iv been having idle problems. Idle hovers around 500 RPM in Drive, should be 700 RPM.It drives really good though. Iv done some basics, cleaned the TB, IACV, EGR, replaced fuel filter, plugs, and now the IACV. The only reason I did the IACV was because I took it to 2 mechanics and they both said it felt fine, only the idle was a little low and nothing to worry about, but I should look into maybe replacing the IACV. NO CEL and the diagnostic check showed NOTHING, no ghost codes or anything....

so the question now is, has anyone had this problem and what was the solution?

Here is a video I took of it. You cant really hear it,but there is a slight thumping before the loud click. the thump sounds like its coming more from the lower half of the engine and the rhythm is like "thump, thump, CLICK click!" or more bass like "boom, boom, CLICK, click!"

Hm, well along with the cleansing I would imagine you had sprayed it down with carb/choke cleaner, and then have tried spraying it inside of it as well.

Also adjusting it by the phillips head attachment might help towards that problem. Try opening it up a little more.

If not, then you might have to end up hitting a junkyard to find a replacement one.

and you say you have had two different machanics look at it??? And the best they could come up with didn't even help? Did they charge for the diagnostic.

Yeah, I already replaced it and still the same....

Yup, both supposedly did the diagnostic and no fix.... I might need to buy a small scanner to make sure myself....

Anyone have similar problems? This just bugs the hell out of me, knowing that my car isnt running 100% because of maybe something really small and stupid....

IACV is controlled by ECU which gets engine speed signal from CKPS tranny side.

CHeck continuity from ECU to IACV. Then check from CKPS to ECU.

Now what exactly is the problem tho? is the idle jus too low? U can adjust that using a lil **** located by TPS.

Also check TPS.

Yeah, the idle is low and the IACV clicks loudly, im thinking it has to be related, I havent adjusted the idle just because the iv been told if the car is in good running condition, theres no need to do it, it would be more like a masking the real problem you know.... but ill do some more checking of the electronics....

Try adjusting the default idle speed with the instructions in post #2 of this thread:

97 stalling at turns, stops w/ or w/o AC engaged

97 niss maxima, changed knock sensor when it coded - one day on normal use, tried to leave from a short stop...upon acceleration..the car stumbled and just didnt want to go...kinda choked...studdered, then surged and once i hit the gas more, it caught up and took off...but since that time...when ever i go to slow to take a turn, or when the idle drops at a speedbump, turn or stop light...it dies..i can start back up immediately, but have to shuffle gas/brake pedal, and/or switch gear from drive to nuetral to maintain higher idle so it doesnt drop too low...and attempting to run the a/c definitely kills it faster..... i have checked the harness, tugged/pulled no reaction, we changed out the IACV, checked and tested all the other emissions related sensors....all good...just dont know what to do next...can someone help???? PLEASE

oh, and i did adjust the base idle, which has no effect at all, car still stalls....also put chevron cleaning solution in tank of gas....no changes. we also changed out the IACV.
