One of the belts is probably slipping, especially if it's a squealing type screech. When the car is off, you can get an better eye on the problem if you try to push down on the accessory drive belts on the passenger side of the engine compartment. If there's more than 1" or so of deflection, the belts either have to be changed and/or the tension adjusted. You don't want to just tighten them without knowing how much load there is as belts that are too tight can load up on the bearing and cause premature failure of the bearing in the accessories (power steering, AC, alternator).

I have that squeeking too. All belts were replaced at my 60k service and Ive only driven 3k since then. The squeeking was common prior to the belt changing.

As posted earlier, it is the belts. Mine had been doing that forever and I was sick of it. First, I went out and checked the tension of the belts. They were loose. So I tightened it every so slightly and that fixed the problem. But since they were OLD belts, they snapped withing a week or se. So I had to replace them, this time making sure the tension was PERFECT. After that, I haven't had a problem since. This was done at 120k and I am not at 138k.

Could be the infamous Nissan starter deal too, especially if it goes away right after the engine is running. There's been a ton of posts on this. http:www.motorvate.ca has info on to fix this.
