Electrical Noise question...
Electrical Noise question...
I have a CB radio that has spent some time in my Ford Taurus, in my Ford Bronco and also in my Maxima. It's going back in my truck soon, but I have a question before I do that...
Whenever the CB was in the '95 taurus or '87 Bronco I always gots *tons* of electrical noise. I tried putting Capacitors across terminals on things like the wiper motor, etc. Also installed the Ford in-tank fuel pump noise-limiter (from Police Crown Vic) and still never got rid of all the noise. The noise all came in through the antenna.
In the '96 Maxima with the exact same components I don't get one tiny bit of electrical noise. It is perfect. I'd like to find out why that is so that I can try to replicate that on the Bronco...
Couple of ideas...
- Distributorless ignition, meaning no sparks except deep inside the engine which is shielded by layers of metal and water...
- The multiplexor setup of the Body Control Module and 5 Location Control Modules reducing the amount of hi-amp wiring running through the car (and near antenna cable)
- Are the wiper motor/window motors etc shielded or CAPped?
Thanks all!
