Gas Filler Neck
How do you disconnect or remove the old filler neck joint ? It just a hose and clamp at the tank, but the top end where you put the gas in, is hard for me to figure out? Any instructions for a novice? Thanks.

I am looking to do this very task on my 1999. Any suggestions to help out a newbie? Is this a dealer only part? Were you able to do this by simply swapping the part or did you have remove the tank? Again, I am new to doing my own repairs so I appreciate any insights you can provide.

I bought the filler neck assembly from a wreckers yard, you can get them cheaper if you go out in the yard and remove it yourself. There is a gas rubber hose that connects both the filler pipe and spill pipe to the tank. These are very pricey items themselves and should not be cut off if at all possible, they should be removed by taking the clamps off and worked out with a slow methodical twist. I did the whole job myself by removing the tire and getting at it that way and from under. Use 2 jacks for safety if you can't get on a hoist. I put the plastic cover back on just using a large o-clamp as more than likely your old brackets are totally rusted or useless. Any other questions let me know, but don't worry about removing the tank. You should get a used part for $60 or less or check the internet and eBay for aftermarket. As long no rust, go for it. I put in an oem used starter too rather than buying aftermarket.
