Electrical Demon...PLEASE chime in

Long story short, my car started fine and stayed on. Transmission finally popped, no biggie. Swaped it out and now I have run into issues. Put my battery back in. It was dead. No biggie, jumpstarted it, was all good but died after running for a few minutes. Keep doing that, but it just got harder and harder to jump. Swapped it out for a new battery, which someone had laying around and was free so no issues.

Jumped it, car started, ran fine. Turned it off, started back up. Went to start it the next day, and it was dead. Jumped it, ran fine, held a charge. Got home, sat overnight, and dead again...jumped it, ran for a few minutes and now its just like the last battery. Just dies. Anyway, my big question is, how many wires, cables, and grounds do you disrupt by removing the transmission? As of right now, I'm waiting on a ride to go by a decent meter to check my alt and everything, but any obvious things to check in the meantime?

wait till you get the multimeter, i don't think theres much you can do now.check if the battery is being drained, if it is pull fuses till it stops. also check to make sure your alt is charging the system, should be a little over 14V. thats all i can think of, maybe go over the swap, make sure grounds are good, everything is plugged in.

after rereading your post, you say the car dies. so it actually sounds like the alternator is not charging. check that out first.

You can also use a test light to check if the battery is being drained. It sounds like a wire might be crimped between the transmission and engine, or one of the mounts. Just an idea......

i did a trans swap not too long ago, and the only thing I disconnected was the battery terminals.

Are you sure? It would have been difficult to change my slave cylinder if I had not taken off the grounding tab for better access. I used some ScotchBrite to clean up the tab and the block before reinstalling.
