Front carpeting
Front carpeting
I have a 1995 Maxima SE which I bought in 1994 brand new. After 16 years my carpeting in the front is shot. Where can I find OEM carpeting without spending an arm and a leg? I have a charcoal gray Maxima and the carpeting is a light gray.
best bet for the money is the junk yard i have seen some well taken care of interiors in the junk yard
how much you looking to spend??
heres an option:

junk yard is a good idea but all the cars i see at the junkyards have windows smashed or doors removed, leaving the interior subject to the elements. buying a pre-molded one might be your best bet

Don't get one from a junkyard, seriously think about this. These cars are all over 10 years old, have many unknown miles, exposed to the elements, are going to be dirty and smelly. Not even worth the time.
I got my carpet for my '91 240sx from stockinteriors for like $150 and change and followed the directions and it was a fantastic end result. They sent me color samples so I could match it with my existing carpet. Only regret was not ordering the matching floormats from them at the same time. Makes the interior of your car like new!
I agree with Swazey, get the pre-molded one, don't bother with a non molded because they are incredibly hard to get to fit correctly. Pre-molded already has the holes cut in and you just need to do minor trimming around the edges.

Pressure wash them.
I thought I needed new carpet for my 96. I ripped it all out, brought it to the car wash, soaked it with cheap laundry detergent and pressure washed the hell out of it. After it dried out it all looked like new! Even the matted down spots were fluffed back up. $10 total cost, less if you own a pressure washer. Just an option....
Stock interiors is not what its cracked up to be. I bought a "molded" carpet from them. It is an 8 hour job or more trying to cut and shove the damn replacement in there including the disassembly of your interior. Then when you are done you realize it sags and bulges in areas and if you cut too much off of it, it will never hang right. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent. The second you open the box you realize how junky it is compared to the oem carpet. The oem carpet has rubber padding and reinforcement which the stock interiors lacks. What you get from stock interiors is essentially a blank slate that you must completely cut to get to the shape of the cars floor. It was molded only in that a few areas of the carpet were raised or lowered to match the floor pan. The carpet extended about 6 inches extra on each side which you need to trim at your discretion. Every single hole must be cut by hand, and this requires test fitting because its impossible to match the holes without putting it in and out and in and out of your car.
I knew it would be bad, but not that bad!
I just ended up going without a carpet and I have thick rubber mats instead after it started pulling out and sagging in a hideous way.
