hot/cold air coming out of vents (when fan turned off!)
I just dont get it! Alright I have a 95 Maxima with the manual controls and when I turn the fan off cause Im hot after the heater has been on for a while there is air coming out of the vents and its really hot. Does anyone know if the heater stays on when the fan is turned on or what. Also does the same with AC. I know you can click to where the vent is turned off and no vent is selected but it is still wierd that it would do that. Any reasoning to this?
This normal for the car to do.
When the car is moving, air from the outside is being forced into the vents (on the hood?). This where the air comes from when you run the HVAC system. When you turn the system off, the air is still being forced into the vents, and will take the path of least resistance, right into the car. It will use the last direction that you had selected on the controls.
To stop and air coming in, press the re-circulate button. It will set the car to cycle air from the inside only, shutting off the outside vents. If you turn the HVAC system off, leave the re-circulate button on, it will still keep the outside air out. Try this with the blower in the "off" setting, set it to upper vent, pick a temp, doesn't matter. Now, drive the car, while driving (carefully) turn the re-circulate button on and off (give it time to change in between). You should feel the air moving with re-circulate off, and nothing when re-circulate is on.
Make sense?
