I am currently experiencing an intermittent electric problem and hopefully someone out there can help. For the past three weeks the healights and dashboard lights will dim when I press the brake pedal. Yesterday, I pressed the brake and the entire car shut off. I pulled over and the car restarted immediately. I have not had any problems starting the car as of yet. Would an electric diagnostic test, offered by the dealership truly offer any insight? Thanks.

 

The alternator just failed on my '95. It was pretty quick...one short trip, no warning earlier in the week. Symptoms were radar detector began to go off...then on. Radio reception was really poor with the lights on...much better with them off. Digital clock's digits were not all the same brightness. Then it just died. This all took about 15 minutes.

Your symptoms sound similar but different enough to make me unsure.
