Sum Switch Keeps Failing

Lets do some history first, to activate my MEVI
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-830449-1/
is the switch I am using, and have gone through two of them.
Power: Injectors, left side of UIM, tapped
Signal: ECU harness, tapped
Ground: UIM
Switch Ground: Body
Activation: 5,000

So, the switches work upon installation, first one lasted two months, second lasted two days.
The red wire has an inline fuse as well.
OK, so the green ready light flickers when the RPMs go up, rather that it staying on, and the blue activation light never comes on anymore.

Possible problems:
Over draw from injectors, if they put out more that three amps.
Thats all I can think of, PLEASE HELP!

Do you have the switch activating relays, or are you running full load through it?

Full load. Built in resistors can handle up to 3 amps. Anybody know the injector power? I did injectors because they only have power when car is running.

First off, I wouldn't pull power from the injectors circuit.
Second, why aren't both grounds at the same location?

1. Where else should I draw power?
2. The lines only long enough and easily hidden the way that they are.

Injectors aren't constantly on, they deliver fuel in pulses. So I assume that the injectors hot wire is not a true constant 12v.

You could probably pull power from the EGR solenoid. Though I would run the rpm switch from the battery for trouble shooting purposes.

If the wires aren't long enough, solder a wire on the end that is long enough.

I believe Maximas switch negative on the injectors, could be wrong though.

You are correct.

When the ignition switch is in the ON or START positions, it sends 12 volts to all the fuel injectors on a common wire (red wire on both banks). The ECM then grounds the other side of the fuel injector to cause it to fire.

Harlan switch FTW

Seriously though, I've installed 4 MEVI with Harlans per this diagram and have had 0 issues...

Note the wires I tapped for the spark plug/coilpack. Hopefully this diagram helps troubleshoot your wiring.

Absolutely right.. the ecu uses PWM to control the injectors and you hooked up a switch to it? No wonder its going bad.. if you need 12 volts switched use the wiper relay..
