is it possible to replace the timing chain guides and tensioner is the bay?

sup org,

so my timing chain cover is making some noise now and i think its time to fix it. i was going to replace the guides and tensioner. plus the valve cover gaskets, uim gasket and maybe a udp. soooo...

is all this possible with the engine in the car? or does it have to be yanked.

thanks in advance

The engine doesn't have to be pulled to do that job. You have to go through the lower oil pan to remove bolts though. While in the case you might as well do the two o-rings and water pump. There is a tensioner and 4 guides. Its about a 10-13 hour job.

Not that this really answers your question, but I figure, if you're in there, why not?

dude, my 95 has almost the same exact mileage, and i was told that until that rattling sound comes on and does'nt go away, dont worry about it. i've had a tapping noise since i got the car at 129,000 and never worried about it. as long as gets quiet after warm up, your fine.

Buy a Remote start, warm her up before you flog her.

At Least to the C on the Temp Guage.

330K miles, over 150K with timing rattle.

I just did mine and with only 110,000 miles on the car. I didn't want to go back in there again. The 4 guides looked perfect(still replaced them). The tensioner had wear on it and was worth changing, so I can't imagine what it looks like at 211,000 miles.

You should just replace it all if you plan on keeping the car for the long haul.
