97 MAXIMA 105K COLD START NOISE QUESTION

Hello all--I have a 97 Maxima that we bought new It now has 105K miles on it and runs and looks like the day we bought it.. I changed the oil a few days ago i do this every 3K Same brand i been using for years--but this time i used a Fram oil filter--Anyway--I notice sometimes on a cold start i hear like a rap for a second--The same sound you sometimes hear right after you start the car up after an oil change--It happens so fast and lasts for a second--But i hear it.. Could the oil filter be causing this? I always used the Nissan filter--but i couldnt pass up a the great on sale price of the fram--which is the fram ultra-filters like 98%..

Thanks for any info..... 10W30 is the oil i use and have been using for YEARS!

Hum? My 96 does the same thing when cold. I also use the fram filter? Doubt the filter has anything to do with this noise. For how long have you noticed this noise? I mean did it ever make the noise before this last oil change?

Sounds like the fram doesn't have the anti drain back.

Pretty sure FRAMS are on the do-not-buy list in the fluids/oils sticky.

Sounds like the fram doesn't have the anti drain back.
Could be, You should check out your filter OP.

I have a mobile 1 from autozone, I hear nothing like what you describe.

I just checked and the fram def says that it has the anti-drain back valve. Fast what fram filter did you use part #? if you remember.

I by the Wal-Mart Super Tech for $2.50 and don't have any noise.

it happens on my 98 all the time when I first start it up during the day when it's cold. it's kinda like a high pitched grinding sound almost. and it just very brief. I'll take a video in a few hours.... I think it might be because it's so cold the oil sticks like **** on a blanket as opposed to hot oil that's slicker than a harpooned hippo on a banana tree.
