99 Rims

In Canada the ES was fitted with these really cool 5 star alloy rims but the SE had some other swirly pattern. What was standard issue on American SE's.

Swirly pattern? The American '99 SE had the same 5-star 16" rims, and the SE-L from mid '99-on had the titanium painted 5-stars. They suck. I'm pretty sure painted rims is a *BAD* idea. Mine are cracking and look like **** up close.

That's not a 99 SE, thats a 99 GLE. The 95-96 SE's came with those "swirly" alloys. 97-99 SE's came with the 5-stars and the SE-L's came with the titanium 5-stars. The site doesn't say that's an SE, its just says Nissan Maxima. Besides there are a hundred other signs of a Maxima being an SE, the #1 being the body painted grille and foglights, which that car doesn't have. That my friend is a GLE.

If I'm not mistaken, those are the standard issue '95/'96 SE 16 inch wheels.

Peace

Perhaps the reason your rims are cracking is because you didn't maintain them correctly or used harsh chemicals to clean them. All Nissan 5 spoke rims are finished with clear coat paint. Titanium color or not. They all have the same clear coat finish on them.

I have a 99 SE-L with the Titanium wheels, which is a perfect match to the Sterling Mist Body color. I have 35,000 miles on them and the finish is nothing short of perfect!

Same here, except that I have the SE-L rims on my 3rd gen. I'm very careful with them and clean everytime I wash my car, maybe that's why they still look new. It only takes me an hour to clean them, inside and out.

I thought I was the only one who actually cleans the inside of all my wheels when I wash my car. My neighbors think I'm carzy, but they always compliment on how good my car looks.

Cleaning the inside of the wheels makes them look awsome. I usually wipe off the calipers and the disc hub as well. I'm actually thinking of getting the calipers and all the brake mounting hardware plated so it looks and stays really clean. My only problem is getting the calipers plated without getting the inside of the piston cup plated. I'm still working on that one.....
