infinit q4 engine
infinit q4 engine
quick question. can the infinit qx4 3.5 fit into the maxima or would the intake manifold have to be swapped out...someone let me kno cuz i found a really good deal on one

there is no such thing as a VQ35VHR.The Qx4 is a pathfinder in fancy sheet metal. it uses a RWD based VQ(its a VQ35DE), those VQs dont fit with out serious modifications into these cars, and its not worth it even if u did get it for free, sell it to somebody with a 240 and go buy a FWD based VQ35

so you have never heard of the 7th gens being a vq35hr motor? high rev?
the hr motors exist, read up on it and find out
- 1 DE series
- 2 DD series
- 3 HR series
- 4 VHR series
VQ37VHR
It was the first production engine from Nissan using VVEL. It has an increased compression ratio of 11.0:1, with 3,696 cc (225.5 cu in) displacement (95.5mm bore and 86mm stroke), while redline remains at 7600RPMs. It is rated at 337 PS (248 kW; 332 hp) at 7,000rpm and 37.2 kg·m (365 N·m; 269 ft·lbf) at 5200rpm. Although the engine gains only 0.2 kg·m (2 N·m; 1 ft·lbf) peak torque over the VQ35HR and this higher torque arrives at 5200 rpm vs. 4800 in the VQ35HR, the torque curve itself is improved and flattened via VVEL variable valve timing for better throttle response and low rpm torque. The VQ37VHR engine has been touted by car magazines and reviewers as an improvement over the VQ35HR engine mostly adding much refinement and smoother engine operation, especially at high rpm where the VQ35HR engine was frequently criticized for NVH and sounding strained, harsh and loud.
Oh and just one more thing...
Allow me to answer some questions:
-2002-Current Maxima has VQ35DE
-Current Skylines, Infinities, 370Z has VQ37VHR
-2008 Skylines, Infinities and 2009 350Z has VQ35HR

He's asking for the stability characteristics of the engine. Poles in quadrant IV ("q4") are positive and complex (with a conjugate pole in Q1), indicating an unstable oscillating system. It is therefore "infinit" in that settling time (ts = 4.6/zwn, 1% settling criterion) and steady-state error (ess = lim(s->0) (R(s)*s*G(s)) are undefined. Our attempts at determining maximum overshoot ("fit into the maxima": Mp = exp((-z*pi)/sqrt(1 - z^2))) will not succeed.
Thus, one cannot swap a QX4 engine into a Maxima. Next.

7th gens don't have HR anything. It's a DE.The 35HR only comes in the 350Z.
The Qx4/PF uses a RWD VQ35DE. Mounting locations on the block are different. There are stickies with this information in the All Motor forum actually.
There's nothing to gain, power-wise, from a 3.5 swap out of a Qx4/Pathfinder.
Ahh... The 4th gen section...

Different heads DO NOT magically transform a standard DE into an HR by the way.

... ANY swap is possible, with the right amount of funds. .
... You can have all sorts of variants of engines as well. The BLOCK is the foundation from which you build up.
There is currently a VQ38 or vq39 (forget which) / 6speed 4thgen running around in NY. there are a few vq32s. Once you have the block, you can go from there for displacement, sleeved etc. blah blah blah. These are hybrid or built engines. (why people spend that kind of $$ on the max... i dont know... but hey to each their own)
I say; if you have to ask "can a swap be done?", then your probably not at the point of being able to do swap. Thus read... read.. and read some more. Its much better to find the answeres to these questions on your own than to hear a bunch of guys/gals smart coments/confusion on line.
Thats my smart comment... lol.
