Question on one ground cable

I have searched. For the ground cable on the battery- 99 car, mine goes down and under th battery pan, then over to the engine to a stud on the front of the engine block.

When the cable leaves the battery terminal and does down under the battery pan, it looks like it lays on the fender/body and is crimped/bonded to the body somehow before it goes on to the stud on the front of the engine.

Is there a fender/body connection there? or does the cable go straight from battery terminal to engine block?
Thanks

its been a while, but the cable is mechanically secured there, but not electrically. i replaced the one in my 99 & it was a pain in the *** as is everything on this cursed car. are you kidding me, a battery cable is an hour job or more

Ti goes from the NEG part of the battery terminal to the body of the car which is behind the battery tray then chrimped then to the engine block..

What are you trying to do exactly?

Just trying to find out where the batteries ground cable connects
1 To the engine block - yes, that obvious
2. but where the battery ground cable goes under the battery pan, is the cable electrically fastened to the body there or only mechanically ?? plugeye in the post above says not electrically connected. Its thats true how does the battery ground connect to the body? Only thru the engine?

I'm not sure what you mean by "electrically" and "mechanically", but IIRC the cable bolts to the body under the battery tray.

electrically means the bare wire of the ground cable touches the frame.
mechanically means that the wire is just held there by its insulation/clamped (and its NOT a grounding point.

which is correct?

Ed, the negative battery cable on my max appears to be stripped of its insulation at the point where it is bolted to the body. This would constitute an additional grounding point. There's a large crimp and at that point the negative is attached to the body and then onto the engine.

So what was the intent of this topic/question...?

Yep, it's a grounding point.

If the wire is crimped/clamped to the side wall its fine. Its jus bein anchored there
