Replaced My Radiator ( Pic's inside)
Replaced My Radiator ( Pic's inside)
Ok so i replaced my radiator everything was fast and easy. I only had a small problem which was fitment to the fans, but i managed to force fit them.
All there really is with these radiators is getting a ratchet, screwdriver and a 10mm socket and that should take care of your job. I started by taking the plastic cover under the car and draining the coolant, Since it was still clean i saved it and put it in a container. I then started with the ratchet and loosened all the bolts that clamped the hose's hooked up to the radiator which was fairly easy. Then i just took off the radiator swapped the fan and put everything back together. This job was easier than having to clean the Throttle body and the IACV no doubt. Im still going to put more pics up tomorrow of the way it looks. I tested the radiator in the freeway and so far so good No Leakage

Good job on the DIY part, Did the fan run with out any interference when the fans kick on. I am assuming that this an aftermarket fan right?
PS. I am about install my remain tranny but I dumped in lucas in the tranny and that's probally sitting in the bottom of my tranny cooler, Is there any way that I can clean that cooler out and then reuse the radiator or I will have to go with a new radiator thanks.

I believe those are the oem fan's. So far no interference when they kick in.
And about your Luca's problem i wouldn't have the right answer for that maybe someone here might just have the right answer for your question.

I have a leak in my radiator about 2 inches away from the cap. It must be a harline crack because antifreeze will start bubblying out. The car has alot of other issues so I was tring not to replace the radiator and just try to use a plastic epoxy. The guy at napa gave me versachem plastic welder but on the package it says not to use with polyethelene or polypropelene plastics. Does anyone know what type of plastic is the original genuine nissan radiator?
Thanks

Is it called JB water weld? I will return the other and get that. Also can you put it on when the radiator is filled?
Thanks so much for your help
yeah man thats the name jb water weld its in a stick and yes u can even put this stuff on wet parts although i recomend that u try to dry the area as much as possible
Im not going to paint mine either. The car has other isues and is also making like a knocking noise when it is running. Almost sounds like it is low on oil but its not. Have yiu ever used any of that stuff like duralube, slick, engine restorer etc in a Nissan?
radiator leak
Thanks so much. I put put the jb water weld over the crack and it worked. No leak
Does anyone no where is a good place to get an antenna?
If the motor still works, you can just replace the mast. Generally have to disassemble it to get all the old pieces of nylon track out, but it's not hard. Masts are readily available on the internet. Whole units are also available, but you have to be careful. I tried one from xantennae.com (or some name like that) in Florida that did not work. Better to try and get a JY one with a working motor and replace the mast.
Hmm good stuff. My boy has a rather large crack on his windshield washer reservoir. Maybe this stuff will work for him. So far epoxy hasnt worked.

I just need the mast. My motor works fine Anyone know where to get one. ?
I got mine from one of the online Nissan parts dealers. I'll warn you that disassembly is a PITA. Getting the assembly out of the car is pretty easy, but you almost always have to take the assembly apart to clean all of the old pieces of nylon out of the plastic drum where the nylon curls up into. I also had quite a bit of trouble getting the old mast out without tearing up the shaft it retacts into. It's supposed to just slide out, but it did not work that way for me - I had to pull very hard. Good luck.
Has anyone ordered a radiator from Genesis Autoparts on the internet?
They are only $60 and have a lifetime warranty.I would like to hear some feedback.

I am replacing the thermostat with a genuine Nissan along with the radiator . They are as cheap as the aftermarket.. The themostat has a gasket. Do I need to put gasket cement on or just put the gasket in without any cement?
So far so good no problems easy install.
Had to wait a week. No biggie.
