as a quality engineer at an industrial repair shop I can tell you that even professional mechanics with tens of years experience will make dum mistakes like that. I personaly do as much work as possible myself to my car because thats the only way I know its done right.

anyway if the headers were loose why dident you know something was wrong when you heard a disgusting off the block exhaust leak? This is just part of being a good project manager.

Ummm......just asking.....could they have come loose in any way? I know they should have been tightened to spec but.....I would have to say if you found just one loose...maybe a possibility...but all loose.....likely they weren't tightened from the get go.....don't know

They could have loosened themselves since they are exhaust bolts. You need to torque them down when they are HOT so they don't back out.

Last time I let a friend work on my car, he cross threaded the O2 in the main cat and cracked the y-pipe right near the flange that connects to the cat. Never again..

one of the bolts i spun off with my fingers

one of the weird things is it didnt sound any different

and this "friend" had a fourth gen at the time a really nice one i might add and so does his brother both were modded

its a little hard to torque the rear header when its hot but i trusted the guy that they were tight i also forgot to mention that i found the bracket bolts just laying on the rear valve cover
