1998 antitheft problems

Hello...Looking for help in completly disarming the antitheft security feature.

Over the past two weeks I have been having a difficult time starting my car. Took car to shop and switched out ignition switch as the starter/battery were fine. Still having promlems starting car. The man working on my car believes it the antitheft causing the problem, as when turn key nothing happens.

Sometime the car starts other times it wont. If I put the key in the door and lock/unlock a few times it will eventually turn and start.

Can I just disable the entire system.... If so.... please provide details as I am not overly experienced working on cars.

Thanks

If I read the wiring diagram correctly, remove the theft warning relay and put a jumper in across pins 3 and 4. The THEFT WARNING relay is by the power steering reservoir on the right side of the car. The cover over the relays is labeled as to which relay is which. The cover is labeled ANTI-THEFT.

This will allow the starter to crank the engine IF the alarm system is the cause. I'm pretty sure that the security led in with the clock will be on If the alarm system is the cause.

The 98's don't have the immobilizer security system and the vehicle would still crank if it was immobilized.

Security system isn't the cause of a no crank issue.
There might be a relay that's not working or the starter solenoid might be going bad.

Time to find another mechanic...

If the jumper doesn't work and you want to wait before going to the dealer, there are a couple of other things to check. But I need to know if the car has auto trans or stick because there are differences.

Check the clutch inhibitor switch at the top of the clutch pedal.
