Amsoil engine transmission flush
Amsoil engine transmission flush
Was given two bottles of the amsoil engine tranny flush, has anyone used this product before on gen 4?
Figure tranny needs to be changed out anyways with new filter, just seeking experience/opinions

I'm actually just searched this up yesterday, since I need to do a tranny flush myself, with the search function and have found that AMsoil is a good choice, provides smooth shifts according to a lot of users on the forum.
reading a thread about seafoam and bg-44(probably spelled/named it wrong) you can put a quart of ATF in your crankcase for about 100-150 miles, then drop the oil. it thins out your oil and helps clean out your crankcase. as far as tranny flush...wouldnt do that unless you've been doing tranny flushes since you've had the car, have heard of some horror stories. dropping tranny fluid and a refill will suffice
Agree with NJ,
who knows what that stuff does to seals and other internals. I looked at teh link provided and that cleaning looks too perfect. AMSOIL a name brand but i dont use any of their products.
Oil in the crankcase.
ATF in the tranny.
CHevron techron in the fuel tank every 3k. YUP!

NJ you feel a standard flush and fill? From common understanding, these trannys will last forever with proper servicing...
When relating this to oil as well, seafoam has done miracles in past so I wont completely agree with you there. I am hesitatnt to load my block with extra 16 ounces, let idle, then drop fulid however, overfilling resevoirs never seems like a good idea to me...hene why it has sat, free, and unused for almost a year

fresh ATF does provide smooth shifts as well not just amsoil.

Either do a drain and refill with your choice of approved ATF or for a more intense fluid exchange follow the instructions in the sticky in the fluids and lubricants section. I switched over to Amsoil ATF at 30K miles. I'm currently at 176K miles with nothing more then drain and fill maintenance. My buddy had over 250K on his with nothing more then average drain and refill maintenance. Maintained and driven correctly, these trannys will do 300-350K miles before a rebuild.
