Pour Out A Little Liquor For Another Dead Homie!
Well, it is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a great and much loved ride, my '98 Maxima, on Jan. 27, 2011 at 5:40 PM. :bawl ing:
I was driving home from work and another driver ran a red light while I was making a left turn, and T-boned me on the driver's side. Luckily I saw him and tried to quickly hook the left turn to avoid contact, Unfortunately I wasn't successful in that, but the impact was lessened, and the brunt of the collision happend just behind me on the driver's side pillar and passenger door. Both doors were crushed inwards, and the insurance wrote it off as a total loss.
I'll add pictures later (I'm @ work so I can't access anywhere to upload pictures). I'm now in a '05 Lexus ES330 (nice ride), but I miss my Max!!!

DAMNIT!!! Can someone correct the typo in the thread title for me???? Where's my damn coffee?!?!?!?! I really need to wake up before posting!
I have pics (1 before on the day I bought it and 1 from after the accident) of both cars, but my job blocks access to anywhere I can upload them.
A GS300 would've been nice, but finding 1 with about 55K miles for less than $18K wasn't happening in such a short time frame. This car was owned & maintained by a Lexus dealership (according to Carfax) and is in great condition (so it seems).

Sucks dude, but at least you are ok. Cars can be replaced blah blah blah...
You mean an es300 right? They didn't make es330's until 2003 IIRC. So a 95 es would be a straight up lexified camry. My parents have owned an sc300, ls400, and currently an ls430. Lexus (toyota) makes great cars and you will most likely have less problems long term than in any Nissan. A bit boring but reliable nonetheless. Just don't pay dealer prices for anything! My dad has his timing belts done at the toyota dealer for 1/3 the lexus stealership price. http: //www.clublexus.com/forums/ Club Lexus is a good forum that I am a member of as well. Oh, and carson toyota has good prices online for parts as does: http://lexus.sewellparts.com/
Good luck with the ES!

Well...an '05 ES330 is quite a step up from a 4th gen maxima. Completely different car obviously but very nice indeed. Enjoy your plush fancy pants ride!

I am! My favorite feature so far is the heated seats!!! Nothing like that warm, toasty feeling on a 20 degree morning!!! Unfortunately, the stereo from my Max (Pioneer DEH-P4200UB http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P420...&tp=5684&avf=N) won't fit into the Lex without modifying the dash & disconnecting the cd changer. But I was lucky in that I was planning on putting new tires and changing the brake pads the weekend of the accident!
And if the vultures want it, they can have whatever is left of it. It's sitting up in the scrap yard in Loganville, GA now.

I have heated seats in the max so, .
As for the stereo, what do you want it to do? http://usaspec.com/product.php?Produ...eShowProduct=1 Use that for iPod integration. Toyota/lexus speakers SUCK though. If they sound crappy, go aftermarket.

My condolences on the death of your Max
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your '98 Max. I love the 4th Gen Max design. I am a 4th Gen owner of a '96 Max and while it is looking a little rough I consider it a diamond in the rough. My wife and I just bought a 2009
Chrysler Town and Country to haul the family around in-a job that just a week ago my Max was doing. The pressure is on to sell the Max but I am resisting the
pressure to do that even though I could probably get a few grand for it.
A Lexus is a nice ride but it is not a Maxima. For now you need to grieve for your
'98 but maybe at some point in the future you could pick up another 4 Gen Max
to replace it. That way the spirit of your '98 can live on in it. You'll feel better every time you drive it and even start to enjoy the Lexus as well.
Feel free to post a reply if you need to chat sometime. Take care for now.

I'm pretty sure he shed some tears. I know I did. I LOVED that car!!!
But thanks everyone! I plan on getting another 4th gen Max one day, just to have a toy to play with and mod. And no, I ain't leaving the board! I'll still be lurking & occasionally posting!

And the speakers sound pretty good to me, at least so far they do. If I get sick of them, I still have the old speakers & stereo I pulled from my old Max.

Fixing it would've cost me more than I paid for it, and would've taken more time than I have right now. Plus, I'm pretty sure there was something else wrong that we couldn't see. When I drove it off the street and into a parking lot after the accident, it was running really rough.
