Idle Air Control Valve (2nd Thread)

Both of these images are referred to as Idle Air Control Valves for the 4th generation Maxima. Which is which or what is there different jobs?

the dirty one sits on top of the block and if it goes bad it will cause bad idle and the needle will hop around during accelaration. the pic that looks like its a new part i think is for a newer maxima as they changed the design. i think thats off a 2001 maxima.

The second pic is the Idle Air Control Valve from a 4th gen. The first one is not from a 4th gen maxima..

Well you never specified that it was a 5th gen. =P
2001 AND 2000 use the same IACV.
That and I just skimmed your post =)

well, i actually researched this as i had my iavc replaced 2 years ago and knew that the other one was newer cause i looked on ebay and it was similar to the one on there, so
