1997 Maxima Code p0446

Hi, I tested the harness for the evap canister vent control valve for code p0446. I got a high voltage reading 51 volts. Has anyone had this same problem? Please help if you can.

If your meter showed 51 volts, I think your meter is wacky. Maybe it needs new batteries.

The Evap Canister Vent Control valve is just an electromagnet that opes and closes an air passage. Take the valve off and jumper 12 volts to it like is shows on page EC-242. You should hear it click if it isn't all corroded up like it probably is. You can try blowing through the air passage like the FSM says.

thanks,it was the batteries. Do you know the size of the screws for the vent control valve? I attempted to take it off and one screw head broke off and the other is spinning. I cant get it off. Please help if you can.

Off the top of my head, I don't know. Find another bolt somewhere else on the car with the same size head and take it to a hardware store.
