driver side mirror transplant to another driver side mirror
I didn't know how to search for this, so here it is. I have a rosewood color 97 maxima. My driver side mirror, plastic piece is cracked and I want to replace it, but the functionality still works. I found a replacement online with same color but its non-heated. I haven't checked mine, but I have the gle edition so I think mine is heated.
I would like to order this non-heated mirror, because its almost impossible to find a driver side mirror in that color. My question is, has anyone ever tried to do a "transplant" -- to take the current mirror, wiring, etc to the other driver side window?

I just recently did this on my I30 as I had to re-use whatever wasn't damaged. The swap is straightforward and if you are only swapping the mirror cover (the coloured shell) from the new unit to your existing one, you only need to pull out the mirror off the tabs (5 I think) and undo the 3 screws holding the cover in.
