If the refigerant (freon) leaked out, the compressor will not run as there is a pressure sensor.

make sure you drain and fill it with the coolant and the lubricating OIL from nissan.

ALSO there is a trigger switch on the compressor (black connector with black single wire). Ensure that is still there and in tact.

Probably a leak, Dead Compressor, or compressor clutch is not engaging(could be many other things too). But be careful refilling R-134a from the "can" can be dangerous/explosive, also there is really no way to meter how much refrigerant is in your a/c system already or how much you're putting in.
Honestly I would get a/c work done professionally. But if you insist on doing it yourself wear eye protection because getting that stuff in your eye will most likely freeze it and when u blink it will shatter.
Oh and DO NOT USE THAT STOP LEAK **** OR ANYTHING THAT CLAIMS TO STOP LEAKS, it will plug the leak and any other orifice in your a/c system.

No don't just "fill it". You need to put dye in the system and find the leak..... Take it to to a shop.
