Help identify this sound...

It sounds sorta like a knife being sharpened, almost. I think it's coming from the front end, but i'm not really sure. You can only hear it when the windows are down and i'm pretty sure it's not like an engine thing because i can still hear it when it's rolling in neutral--but it's relative to the car's speed, as in if i am rolling faster the sound is made faster. It's just like a metal on metal noise. As far as i know it's not doing anything terrible.....

Sounds like your discribing the sound of your brake wear sensors probably time for some new brake pads.

It could be a CV joint or a wheel bearing. Check the CV joint rubber boots (all 4) to see if any are torn/ripped. If so, there's your problem.

Not a lot of info to go on, but it could be the brake caliper starting to seize.

they are attched to the back of the rotor some times they get bent an rub the rotor causing a scraping noise u can bend them back out with a flat head screw diriver with out removing the wheels

but more than likely it is wheel hub i chased a noise like what u describe for a while an turned out was the hub bearings
