96 vacuum/whooshing sound from passenger rear

96 maxima, manual, 145k miles

After the car has warmed up, whenever I am accelerating there is a loud vacuum sucking/whooshing sound. It is coming from the rear of the car on the passenger side. Any ideas?

Sounds like you are hearing your fuel pump...that's normal..

The sound is new and very loud. Certainly not normal.

The only thing on the passenger rear side is your exhaust pipe..which would indicate that you have a hole somewhere in the pipe..

Idt a hole in the exhaust would make a whoosing sound. Maybe a loud ricer sound but ive never heard of a whoosh

With the exception of a hole in the body, the only thing that could make noise is the fuel pump. Why don't you take the rear seat cushion out, check around the access hole for the fuel pump and then take the car for a drive and see if this helps you find the noise.

EVAP canister also has vacuum lines going to it. It's on the driver's side just behind the rear wheel.

I'd definitely check the fuel pump.
