Question about removing side skirts and putting them back on

Question: I pulled my lip kit Friday so I could repaint it, my problem is that I have a very long piece of 3M tape left on both rocker panels. Anybody know of an easier way to remove this stuff? Ive tried a blow dryer and using my thumb to to "roll" the tape, I got about 75% off of one side but I tore my thumb up.
