It's a d1s kit with e55...the bulbs were used when I got them...also bought a lense restore kit for the front and it didn't help much because the front lenses are still hazy. It looked much better with the front housing lenses off. But I can't complain.

Looks like you still had to adjust the housings a bit inward judging by the look of the lenses.
Id say get some new bulbs and work a bit more on the lenses.

Bulbs are on their last life.

I went with the new phillips D4s. But the D2 is nearly as bright and cheaper.

Problem with D1 is that the ignitor is part of the bulb, so you would likely have to get new ballast if you upgrade to d2 or buy an external ignitor.

Ya I know...building around those ignitors and resolving clearance issues was a pita also I think these ones I got are either 4.3k or 6k...

Looking good for your first time. The lights look a little dull because they are e55, that was my first projector as well but the light even with e55 is way better than stock. I had my e55 for about 4 years before I upgraded, nothing wrong with staying on budget. You need an hid harness for the ballasts. Things may work fine on the stock wiring now but you had issues quickly and the same thing will probably happen again later down the road without one.

thanks! Anyone have any suggestions on anything else to do to the front lights?
here are the lights when they look bright, then they go down, but go up again:

then down

front view without fogs and then with:

Take a pic of the bulb so we can see the arc, that will tell us how old it is
