Windshield replacement! OEM or aftermarket?

Looking for a recommendation on front windshield replacement. Mine has a big crack on it and can't be fixed. Dealer wants $700 for OEM and around $350 for aftermarket.

Checked out Safelite autoglass but read some bad reviews on it.

Can anyone here help out? I'm located in the southern cali/LA area. Any type of help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've been through a few different windshields ranging from 150-350. I couldn't tell the difference between them.

I honestly can't help. My insurance company gives me all the free windshields I want. every time I get a crack or chip I call em up and they give me one.

I'd go OEM. I have an aftermarket one on my 5.5 that the last owner had put on and it has some chips that annoy me.

Damn. Even for a dealer that is high. I would say either go for the after market and get it installed somewhere besides the dealer, or get the OEM and get it installed somewhere else besides the dealer....
$700 is ridiculous.

Most dealers don't do windshields. They sub-contract it out to a local glass shop.

Had to get my wind shield replaced and I went to the cheapest place I could find. Cost me $125 two years ago. Doing just fine.

Windshield update!

Wanted to update everyone.

$700 bucks! Out here in cali that's what the majority of the dealers are smoking!

After calling around and doing a little bit more of homework i was able to find a reputable windshield replacement company for a very reasonable price ($130installed, warrantied and tax included!). That's what i kind of figured is that dealers will !$$ rape you if you don't do your homework.

Thanks again for all your help.

Nice find. Glad you didn't just go to the dealer.

Sometimes their prices just make me wonder how people fall for it. Most likely because people don't look around.

Must say though, 130 installed + tax and warranty is great.

Haha, I was wondering what he meant too. If he meant that, then my stock windshield would like a word with him....
