Currently drive a 97 SE with 145k miles. It has a full exhaust (headers to muffler, muffler is OEM for inspections) Automatic, and drives fine with a few sluggish take offs.

SYMPTOMS:
In the past couple months, the mileage as been getting worse, and it's being a little bit more sluggish then usual, but not all the time. I keep checking for codes, but there aren't any. Yes the CEL lights up briefly when I turn the key. If I let the car sit for 2-3 days, when I start it up, I get a white cloud of exhaust with blue tint. There's a smell of gas sometimes in the cabin also, but this is only noticed when I come into the car 5-10 mins after its been warming up.


I'm trying to troubleshoot what I should do next. Can anyone help me with this?

1. Possible fuel leak some were in the lines? What's the best way of finding this out?

2. A hole has finally surfaced on the muffler. I plan on replacing it, but would this be a dramatic change in mileage and performace. Gas smell?

3. Fuel Injectors. I recently had the 2 (back and front) middle ones replaced. This didn't help with anything. How can I check myself if an injector is good or bad? Or even the O-rings on them. I tried the link on the forum, but I couldn't connect to site.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Blueish smoke is a signal of oil burning, have you checked your oil level between oil changes? It could just mean that your car is really old.

mines about 16 at most XD

I'm having a similar issue but I'm wondering if the gas may be part of the problem.
