a few problems with my car, help please.

first off, i drive a 97 maxima GLE with 84k miles. i have fixed a few problems with my car but there are still some that remain:

1. poor gas mileage, 15-19.
2. shaking when i hit 55 mph. doesnt go away if i speed up, only gets worse. (easily the worst problem with my car, it gets so bad that i cant go over 70)
3. rpm gauge not working. 1 out of 10 times it will work, but most of the time it just bounces up and down and does not gauge my rpms at all. just wondering if this is an easy fix.

i will take any advice, thank you.

It would be nice to know if you have any codes.

1 - Spark plugs could be worn out, knock sensor could be bad.
2 - Shaking could be a bent wheel. Rotate your tires and see if the symptoms seem different.
3 - Probably a bad tachometer. Get a gauge cluster from the junk yard. They're not all that hard to change.

2. Wheels balanced? If so, I would say basically all the suspension parts: tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings, ect...

In my experience and judging by what you say, any problem that increases with speed (not rpm) involves the wheels... most often this is simple misalignment or misbalanced tires, but could also(rarer) be an axel issue...

most places will do these checks and balancing for next to nothing...
