So I have this little problem with my maxima. Whenever the AC or Heater is on in the car, the center vents will not blow air. There is some air coming out, but nothing noticeable. The ones on the passenger side and driver side blow a bunch of air. I have checked other maxima’s, and when the air is on full blast all vents blow the same amount of air. Any ideas?

 

Check the air distribution door in the plenum.

 

Would that be under the dash, or in the center of the dash? Also the car has CC if that matters.

 

Have not had this problem myself. Here is an idea: When you have the 'to face' mode selected, does anything come out of the defrost vents up at the windshield? In the diagrams it looks like there is a door (the defroster door) that should be closed when in this mode. It looks like this door will be on top of the heater box in about the center of the dash; behind the climate control. Looks like there are two openings on top of the airbox in this area: the center vents are fed from the dash side opening, and the defrost from the firewall side opening. Maybe that door is staying open and allowing a lot of the airflow to go up to the defrost ducts. good luck.

 

When the face more is selected, no air comes out from the defrost vents. Only the two side vents, and some air through the center vents.
