00vi odd question....

I want to start my setup today, finish it tomorrow. But the ONLY thing i am missing is the RPM swith. I will order one either tonight or tomorrow. Now my odd and possibly dumb question is, can I run the 00vi setup without the rpm switch?? Will this cause issues? I know I basically won't make power top end, but the kit would be installed, and that's exactly what I want to accomplish.

So is this possible or do I just sound like a noob? lol

BTW, I plan to use the 4th gen LIM without the EGR, and 4th gen IACV.

Just tie the VIAS assembly open for now. Or just remove it completely.

yes you can run w\o rpm switch. What are you planing for the egr delete?

If you want to go a cheap route you can use a toggle switch and do it manually.

This sounds unprepared, but i'm not sure...lol I'll call my shop in the morning and see what they recommend. I have all day tomorrow off. Any input for it?

I don't mind using it. Just not sure what would suit me better in all honesty.

I ran my 00vie without an RPM switch for 3 months. it's basically just like not having an 00vi as you only get single runner all the way. For EGR, just put in a block off plate on the the tube and that's it. That won't case you to throw a code. Also check your VIAS valve to make sure it's not broken, it will save you some time in the future.

4th Gen IACV is also the way to go. Once again, won't cause codes. =)

to add to that you will need to have the egr temp probe hooked up to not throw a code.

Since you'll have to use the DE injectors with the 4th gen LIM it won't hurt your air/ fuel mixture. I'll be installing the 00VI with DEK injectors so I'm waiting until I find a VAFC II. I don't want to run a rich mixture on the CAT I recently installed.

FWIW I do throw a an EGR code (0302: hi/low flow) from time to time. Both the EGR temp probe and solenoid are still hooked up, and EGR equipment removed.

Sorry, pics are crap. But for those who have done it...how does my engine look in general? Anything look out of place? I've never dug that deep into my engine before should be getting the holes drilled tomorrow and then installing the 00vi . Any tips for how I am doing? this took me 2 hours overall. Can I replace the valve cover before taking out the LIM?

haha, if only it were that easy we'd all have cams. youre looking at an additional many, many hours of labor to swap cams out.

Took me about 6 hours to get to that point my first time around. Yes, notice I said first.

After all was put in I discovered that I leaked oil from the rear valve cover like crazy because I did not install enough washers. My bolts for some reason were longer then they should have been and the cover was not on tight enough. So I had to take it off two more times.

The valve cover is from a 2000 Maxima. It was not the one in the picture above. I'll post more pics today now that I have more daylight!

Not too sure how it got that color, got it that way. I left it like that because it reminds me of the stock one. Kinda weird I know.
